J.Roberts — Carlow's most trusted stove and fireplace installer. Serving Waterford homeowners for over 15 years.
County Waterford is a county of genuine contrasts — a dynamic, historic city at its heart, a spectacular rugged coastline along the Celtic Sea, and a rich agricultural and wooded hinterland stretching north to the Comeragh and Knockmealdown Mountains. Waterford City, Ireland's oldest city, has an extraordinary concentration of period architecture including Viking-era remains, Norman streetscapes, and magnificent Georgian and Victorian townhouses and terraces along the quays and in the residential streets climbing back from the River Suir. The coastal town of Dungarvan is a thriving market town with its own distinct mix of period and modern properties, while Tramore is a popular seaside resort with a varied housing stock. Further inland, Lismore and Carrick-on-Suir each have their own heritage character and community of homeowners looking for quality stove installations.
In Waterford City, the demand for stoves divides fairly evenly between two types of project. The first is the conversion of original Victorian and Georgian fireplace openings in the city's many period terraced and townhouse properties — inserting a modern stove into a beautiful original surround while lining the chimney to current standards. These are satisfying and often visually striking projects that genuinely enhance period rooms. The second is the installation of contemporary wood-burning stoves in the newer residential developments on the city's outskirts, in areas like Farronshoneen and Lisduggan, where original fireplaces are absent and a modern heating solution is required.
The Waterford coastline — from Tramore out past Dunmore East and along the Copper Coast to Dungarvan — has a significant number of holiday homes, second homes, and recently renovated coastal properties where stoves are a popular choice. Coastal installations require specific attention to flue terminal selection and liner specification given the salt-laden marine environment, and our team is well practised in this type of work. We use grade 904 stainless steel liner for all coastal properties within approximately three kilometres of the sea.
The strong farming tradition of County Waterford means we also carry out many installations in rural farmhouses and converted outbuildings, particularly in the valleys north and west of Dungarvan and in the Nire Valley area. These are often large, characterful properties where a substantial multi-fuel stove makes a transformative difference to winter comfort and is very much in keeping with the character of the building and the farming way of life.
